Sligo - The Land of Heart's Desire - was the inspiration behind much of the poetry of Ireland's greatest poet W.B. Yeats. The Irish are a genuinely friendly race who enjoy talking, so why not come and join us. There are no strangers here - just friends you haven't met!

County Sligo offers its visitors a fine variety of mountains, lakes and beaches. Sligo town (pop. 20,000), the busy thriving capital of the region, has a special atmosphere rich in culture and history.
The megalithic tombs of Carrowmore - within three kilometres of our house - are reputed to be more than 4000 years old and are regarded as being among the most famous in Europe.

Tranquil waters of Glencar Lake
We have abundant lake, river and sea fishing; excellent golf Courses at Strandhill and Rosses Point; superb horse riding centres (cross country, trekking, jumping etc) available locally at Sligo Riding Centre, Carrowmore, and at Horse Holiday Farm, Grange. The Hawk's Well theatre offers nightly entertainment while all of this North West region is famous for its traditional Irish music and dance.
